Not looking forward to the BBQ.

July 20th, 2010 at 08:14 pm

My Boyfriend...Yep OMG I have a boyfriend.

Anyway, sorry back on topic. I have met his brothers and his niece and nephew but not the rest of the family. Well there is a BBQ for his brothers birthday tonight and I agreed to go.

So it is a meet the parents/uncles/aunts/sister-in-laws night. I was not nervous at all until a few hours ago.

I hated my hair, I was growing it out and it was at a horrible stage, well I cut it. Yes I lost about a inch on the sides and about 3 inches in the back BUT I think this new cut will grow out Much better than the style I had before. I cut it because my BF wants some pictures of us together so he can show people who ask. Anyway I wanted to feel my best going to meet the parents and cut my hair.

I am so much more happy about my hair.

Well the BF is 43 and I am 33 so it is not like it is MEETING the parents like when you are in your 20s. But Still I want to make a good impression.

Well today I got a text from my BF and he was telling me about the gag gift he was going to buy his brother. I am a little uncomfortable about the gift as it is "NAUGHTY" in theme and I am worried his family is going to think I am perverted or something because he is bringing me to the party and not sure if he makes a habit of giving these types of gifts to family members. What if they think I had some input in the gift.

Four Hours until the BBQ and I am now getting nervous. On another Note my little boy comes home in 2 more days!!

Relax and enjoy the party! Just be yourself. Your BF likes you being yourself and since he is a product of the family, they will probably like you too. As for the gift, I think that is a hoot(southern term, sorry)!! If they don't like it because they are prudes, than no matter how much you try, they won't like you anyway!

Brothers do that. Just relax. If they don't like you - oh well! But what if you don't like them?

If the gift idea bothers you, then maybe pick up a little something from just you-maybe a bottle of wine or a nice dessert-not anything big since you don't know brother that well. Then when it comes to the gift giving, it will all be on bf since you brought you own little something.

eh, I am sure they will love you. Just relax. And if it seems that they think that of you, just loudly say the gift had nothing to do with you, and if you had it your way, you would have gotten a bottle of wine or something. Smile

    Thanks,

The BBQ went really well. His aunt/uncle never showed and because of events going on that day I guess it was much lower key than normal.

I had fun and BF skipped the gift all together, instead he picked up a picnic themed cake that had this huge plastic ant on it that his nephew ended up playing with and it was just cute. His nephew is a little younger than my son but they are both bean poles with blonde hair so "of course" had to like him.
